I really enjoy your daily daily Emails. I am guessing since you mentioned Evanston during your college years that you went to Northwestern as I did. A good school – and back in the days when I was there the entire town of Evanston was “dry” – we had to drive either west to Skokie or go south to Howard Avenue.in Chicago>
They also had a crazy law that women could drink when 18 years of age and men had to be 21>

Yes, Evanston when it was dry, though you could order fries to get a beer at a restaurant. And I took the El down to Howard Street to buy Old Style once or twice.
