If asked about a particular wine I will give a “gold,silver,bronze, or no medal” response (leaving out my score) with an evaluation of why I would award said level. Perhaps it didn’t suit me on the day I evaluated it or more often it really needs time in the bottle and I wouldn’t drink it now. Unfortunately, most people want it now and want to consume it when they get home…not wait a few years for the wine to develop layers and mellow out.

he may be right.
our wines are only available on-premise so at the very least we don’t need to worry about a number on a shelf-talker. I like the fact that a somm/server/bartender will have to use prose rather than numerics to describe our wines.
