Dallas’ weekly newspaper does a Best of Dallas every year, and picks a best columnist as part of the process. This year, for some reason completely unknown to me, they picked me.
The honor was mostly for some local political writing I do for Advocate magazines, which covers five of the city’s neighborhoods (and where I also do the wine writing). The Advocate is published by my long-time pal Rick Wamre, whose journalism skill is something most people can only envy. Some 20 years ago, Rick asked me to write the column and has put up with me ever since. Frankly, given Dallas, that hasn’t always been easy for him.
The reason I include this here is that the note in the citation mentions the blog: “Siegel is also author of a blog called ‘Wine Curmudgeon,’ which often is the only place to go for plain talk about wine in Dallas — a topic that cries out for plain talk.”
Is it any wonder I’m blushing?

you blush? Maybe it was the niacin pill you mistook for an aspirin?
