Were your ears burning, Jeff?

Last night I was talking to another wine writer and the Dr. Vino post came into the conversion. The writer opined that people who purchase wine under $10 don’t read wine blogs. To which I countered that Wine Curmudgeon sees healthy traffic writing about affordable wines. His response was that his readers don’t.

Mine do. They want a range of recommended wines (kinda like a range of shoes…I’m such a girl) from the $7 bottles for everyday to more expensive bottles for special occasions. The whole goal at Wine Harlots (besides world domination) is to get more people drinking and enjoying wine. Having new media writers perpetuating the myth that only expensive wines are good wines, is a disservice to the industry.

Wine bloggers have been talking about how their traffic has slowed in the past year – I suggest it may be due to writing about things (expensive wines) that have like relevance or interest to their potential audience.

Keep fighting the good fight,

All the best,

Nannette Eaton

Thanks for the kind words, Nannette. It's always nice to be reminded I'm not the only who feels this way.

Hello, Moscato!!!
