• 6,600 wineries in U.S.: And 3,800 of them are not in California, reports WineAmerica.org, the trade group for U.S. wineries. Those 6,600 wineries are one-third more than in 2007, and 11 times the number in 1975. There are wineries in all 50 states, including 13 in Alaska. New York, with 308, leads the other 47. Texas has 219 and Virginia has 210.
